Hamilton Wins for Ferrari for the First Time as Championship Leader Antonelli DNF.

The infamous Barcelona Grand Prix just took place last weekend and we saw one of the most eventful races so far this season. We saw Ferrari win their first Grand Prix since Carlos Sainz was racing in Scarlett Red. The 7 time World Champion Lewis Hamilton took that victory after over a 600 day wait since his klystron victory. Could this be a serious turning point in Ferrari’s season. Lewis showed incredible patience and dominance throughout the race with a very strong strategy, making George Russell pit earlier than he should have and making no mistakes all race at all. A true world champion drive was shown after a great Saturday for lewis in qualifying, out qualifying his championship rival Kimi Antonelli and getting himself on the front row for the first time for Ferrari. George Russell was also having a really strong weekend, getting P1 in both Free Practice 1 and 3 and also putting his car on pole position. Many believe this could be a major turning point for Ferrari’s season as Lewis did not win the race via a safety car that went in his favour or a Mercedes error but Lewis won the race by 21 seconds ahead of George Russels Mercedes.

On the other hand of the Ferrari team, Lewis’ teammate Charles Leclerc had quite an unfortunate weekend, with him struggling throughout all of the practice sessions, crashing out Q3 causing him to start p10 for the grand prix and finally having an engine issue towards the end of the grand prix, ending his weekend with misery.

Kimi Antonelli has an unfortunate end to his Grand Prix Weekend as all weekend he seemed strong, not quite as fast as his teammate this weekend compared to his last few weekends yet still fighting for a top spot on the podium for most of the race. However his racing engineer Peter Bonnington came on the radi to say to Kimi there is 5 laps left and to just bring the car home as 15 points would be a good settlement for the weekends overall performance, yet as Bono said this, Kimi seemed to lose power in his car and had to pull over onto the grass to end his grand prix weekend in despair.

On Friday of this weekend it was announced Pierre Gasly was awarded his podium from Monaco last weekend and was delighted to achieve his first ever podium in Monaco. Gasly’s team complained and appealed after the Monaco GP to remove his penalty which they felt he didn’t deserve and to gain his podium back. This stripped Isack Hadjar of his first ever podium for Red Bull.

The McLaren’s this Grand Prix weekend seemed to be favourites after the practice sessions up there with Mercedes, wth both drivers looking extremely strong throughout practice. Yet qualifying came and there seemed to be a lack of pace for them to find any sort of danger and challenge for a front row or second row start, luckily for Lando Norris he managed to pull a p4 lap in the end with Oscar Piastri down in 6th. Due to Kimi Antonellis DNF, this gave Lando Norris another podium this season and keeping himself in the title fight talks. Lando had been saying since saturday that they wont be able to keep up with the front runners of the grand prix. While he didn’t keep up with them, he still managed to find a podium and gain a solid 15 points for him and his team.
